So sorry its been a while in coming but I thought it might be a good idea to take a mini-break to allow some regeneration of creative juices. OK I forgot for a bit... I hope you're ready for the next album cover challenge though. It's great fun - even just reading random quotes is fun before you start editing your cover. Also, if you're struggling for inspiration it might get you going again! So here's how it works:
1. Go to wikipedia and hit 'random article' on the left. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2. Go to quotationspage.com and hit 'random quotes' on the left. Scroll down. The last 4-6 words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album.
3. Now go take a photo that fits with your album!
4. Use your favourite editing program to create your cover.
5. Share your image (or images, you can do as many as you like) with us by tagging it with 'albumcoverchallenge5' !
This challenge will run until June 8th. There is no limit to the number of entries you can make, just make sure to tag them as instructed above.
To share an entry in the thread, go to your uploaded image and find the area under your photo data that says "Share". Copy the code from the box and paste it in the discussion thread here. You can use a previously shot image or one you shoot just for this competition, but you MUST use your OWN images!!
So please have a go and have fun!!
Oh one final thing... I guess album covers should be square. Unless you're going for a gatefold sleeve! Lets not be too picky though.
Oh goodness! I got "I paralyze" for my band and "Should be declared brain dead" for the album title. Just need to fit this in with the other challenges I'm doing this month - simples! O_o
I don't know if I will actually do this yet but I got the band name "Disjunct" and album "Just choose what you have". I will have to put my thinking cap on.
Some great names there, can't wait to see your art work! btw you can check the tags from the previous challenges for inspiration. They should be tagged: albumcoverchallenge4 etc.
@gphelps5 Those are great! It will be just as much fun with a random title I'm sure.
Ok... I got a little excited and I have done mine already...
"1. Go to wikipedia and hit 'random article' on the left. The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band."
Disjunct
"2. Go to quotationspage.com and hit 'random quotes' on the left. Scroll down. The last 4-6 words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your album."
Just choose what you have
"3. Now go take a photo that fits with your album!
(You can use a previously shot image or one you shoot just for this competition)"
I used a photo I took a few days ago of the sky and also an old photo of my partner.
I chose a photo I already had because I thought it fit the words "Just choose what you have". The design is inspired by "having your head in the clouds". The original complete quote is "“When you can't have what you choose, you just choose what you have" so I was thinking that sounds like you should let impossible dreams go. To dream impossible dreams is to have your head in the clouds.
Disclaimer: I don't agree with the saying. I think you should never give up on your dreams.
I got the band name Satellite (the Beloved Song), which is apparently a real band and song....and Survive as a Strip Club Bouncer as the song.
Here's a link to the actual song. Weird! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlzECaQtgPk
Is it cheating if you keep doing it till you get a combo that works for you?
I don't do the challenges but I do like the album cover challenges. I like that I have two things, the group name and the title, from which to pull ideas from . I'll be submitting one tomorrow.
The subject matter is in fact decidedly French, Alison, but I'll leave it as a guessing game for now. The font by the way is based on Jane Austen's handwriting.
I thought I would have a bit of fun.. Sorry about the NOT square crop. I only noticed it after I was finished and it would of been way too much work to change it. :)
@fueast i sure did Alison, the whole quote was "Write a wise saying and your name will live forever" not sure he wrote any wise sayings (actually pretty sure he wouldn't of, lol) but his name will go on forever here!!
Ok. My band is "European Ratsnake" (hmmm...heavy metal/grunge?) And my album is "Love More Deeply" (Although I think the three words in the quote that precede these three would fit the band more: Hurt More Deeply. LOL) Just wish that now "European Ratsnake" didn't sound like a euphemism.......
Dvarapala?
because the waters are calm?
Must be a new-age relaxation CD. Or something indie folk?
The water is from a Michigan river, taken in February.
@houser934 That water has got to be some of the coolest, soothing water I've ever seen! I can totally see that cover sitting next to the cd player in an acupuncturists office! :-)
Band Name: Narikkalpatti -- city in India
Title: In order to be unhappy
???
My Favs so far are listed below, but please do have a look through:

The band: Saint-Médard, Gers (Saint-Médard is a commune in the Gers department in southwestern France, it says here).
The title: "Anything looked at closely becomes wonderful". (A. R. Ammons)
Plenty of scope then ... I'll have to ponder for a while.

I thought it was a weirdly fitting video!
Not sure, but I'll see what I can do!
@lynnb Thats a great title even if the band name might be hard to remember...

This made me think about the internet memes that have something adorable or a hunky guy and say "Your argument is invalid" so I went with Adorable
This was fun!
