Back to film

September 23rd, 2012
Yes I did it, I went back to film. As from this month my main album will be analogue. Hope to keep it like that for 365 days!
I'm happy with the first results, and there is so much more to learn. Do you still shoot on film? Show me here if you like.

Awesome Maaikel! Looking forward to seeing your work!

Very nice... I shoot both. I only wish film was as free as digital, I would shoot a lot more.

Here is one...

@anzere03 Perfect shot!

I still miss the feeling of exitement when you had your films developed....

Love film, watch that you use the tag film-lives to be included in the ongoing film photos uploaded to the site. And keep an eye out for RIAD and film-lives-1 challenges which aim to shoot a roll in a day or a week.

@chewyteeth I will Dave!
September 23rd, 2012
@smallenburg The best part of analogue!
September 23rd, 2012

I shot several rolls of film this summer, I forgot how much I missed it.
September 23rd, 2012
@httpgeffed That's fantastic!

I bought my Canon 500 35mm on Ebay for £26! Bargain. I love the colours using film creates. I agree with @anzere03 would take many more pictures if it was cheaper!! Here is one of my favourite film pictures. Taken on a long exposure.

@maaikel very nice shot..I wish I had a film camera…in my book nothing compares…guess Im old fashion ;)
September 23rd, 2012
@staci2171 When I started with film again last July, friends and family started to gif away there camera';s So my collection is growing. Don't think you are old fashion at all!
September 23rd, 2012
@jules88 Love this shot, well done!
September 23rd, 2012
@maaikel Nice, I miss film…maybe I should rethink in trying out film again. Where does one process their film here in the Netherlands? I live close to Eindhoven.
September 23rd, 2012
@staci2171 I used to bring them to HEMA, and I found out they still do a good job. like this one:

I have a feeling that I may be dusting off the old Minolta! :)
September 23rd, 2012
@sarajeal You should just give it a try and have fun!
September 23rd, 2012
@maaikel Very nice..I will check HEMA out, thanks!
September 23rd, 2012
@maaikel I should do really, it makes me a bit sad when I think i've still got about 40 undeveloped films where I couldn't afford to run it.....I do fully intend to get them developed, I just couldn't cope throwing them away as they hold all my first SLR photography and I reckon it would be like christmas if I got at least some images out of it. This site is inspiring me in so many ways, and the thought of dusting off the old SLR is filling me with smiles :)
September 23rd, 2012
@sarajeal That;s great! I found this picture on a film I shot 12 years ago:

@maaikel wow....love that bus! How exciting too! I was thinking of risking one of my old rolls of film to try and scan it on the flat bed scanner.....have you ever attempted it?
September 23rd, 2012
This thread is beautiful. Love film!
September 23rd, 2012
@sarajeal No I had it scanned on the lab where I had it printed.
September 23rd, 2012
It took me ages to move to digital but I couldn't move back. I couldn't afford to for a start. Mind you at least you could change a lens on a film camera without worrying about getting dirt on the sensor.
September 23rd, 2012
This is my favorite film shot, so far. I will be shooting more this week.

September 23rd, 2012
@cmc1200 What a great shot! I'm looking forward to your other shots, a follow!
September 24th, 2012
@maaikel congrats. Like the image at top

I find that I shoot completely different with my film camera than with my DSLR. My film is much brighter and street photography where as my digital is definitely darker and more of my attempt at being artsy.
September 24th, 2012
i enjoy buying old film cameras and taking them out to see if they even work, most do. but i am too hooked on the instant results of digital to go back completely. olympus OM-1 here.

Zenit-11 + Ilford XP2

September 24th, 2012
@shootingpeople Fantastic! Have a zenit but didn;t use it yet!
September 24th, 2012
@chard This worked well!
September 24th, 2012
Congrats Maaikel. Looks great. Just found my old Pentax K1000 a week or two ago. Doing a week of film myself. Have to agree with everyone else though, wish it wasn't so expensive.
This was taken yesterday with 15 year old film.
September 25th, 2012
@losthorizon Great, love the tone of this!
September 25th, 2012
@maaikel Thanks Maaikel.
