Obviously, this is our first Abstract Mundane Challenge, but I thought we should keep the challenge number the same as the Mundane Challenge or else it will be super confusing.
Here are the basics:
This challenge runs concurrently with the Mundane Challenge. Where the #1 objective of the Mundane Challenge is to keep the subject clearly identifiable and "the star", this is the "alter-ego" for those of us who like to explore abstractions.
We use the same subject matter and the same start and end dates as the Mundane Challenge, so our subject is Language and will end Sunday, Feb 10th. Now, this is an interesting subject for our first abstract challenge and I imagine there could be a bit more cross-over than when the subject is is a physical object. Let's give it a go and see what happens!
The winner of the Abstract-Mundane challenge will host the next challenge (post the rules, pick the images to vote on, announce the next winner).
i don't get it ?----we'll post an abstract version of the other mundane-language?---can u post some examples so we can at least visualized the concept :)--thanks !
I think the idea of a mundane challenge - abstract sounds fun but in my opinion I don't think it should be a mirror of the other challenge since we may choose to do an abstract shot for the other challenge and this one I would interpret as strictly abstract. That's just my opinion.
@myhrhelper You may participate in any way you wish. According to the description of the Mundane Challenge, those images are supposed to include the subject matter in way that it recognizable. I thought it would be fun to have a place for those of us to like to play with abstract to just take the same object and put our own spin on it, in which case it very likely is not recognizable and therefore doesn't meet the rules of that challenge. There was definitely a lot of interest in this ideas, so that's why I ran with it. :)
@myhrhelper If you read the rules of the regular Mundane challenge, the mundane object not only has to be recognizable, but it also must clearly be the star (which not everyone follows and since not even the finalists follow that rule, not sure if that rule is still in play or not). Doing an abstract would break both rules in most cases. That's the whole point of the abstract mundane challenge.
Haha! This will be fun, kicking off the abstract challenge with an abstract noun ... quite a bit of head scratching going on here. I think I'm going to enjoy this one. :-)

Use the tag, "abstract-language"
I'll polish up the guidelines as people post questions, etc. And for those who didn't see the original thread for this idea, http://365project.org/discuss/themes-competitions/16256/any-interest-in-an-abstract-mundane-challenge
Good luck!
