Thank you to all those who participated and voted on the challenge last week featuring toothpicks. As winner, I have the pleasure of being the host of this week's Abstract-Mundane Challenge!
The Abstract-Mundane Challenge runs in parallel with the Mundane Challenge, using the same object as chosen for the Mundane Challenge. However, there is a distinct difference between the two. For the Mundane Challenge, the object must clearly be “the star” of the photo and recognizable. For this Abstract-Mundane Challenge, the object should far less recognizable - it should be more abstract.

The mundane object this week is the hex key, or Allen Wrench as chosen by Lynn @lyno. Lynn posted the following: “This week's mundane star is the hex key or Allen wrench. Just a bit more commentary: I did read up on these at Wikipedia and evidently "Allen Wrench" is a trademarked product and there is a request not to genericize by calling ALL hex keys "Allen wrenches". @grizzlysghost Hi Aaron. This is my first time hosting a challenge and I was hoping you could give me some advice, if you don't mind. At this point there is only one, albiet amazing, entry. What's the best plan in this situation?
@masosy Many times, people will wait until the last minute to post an entry. If in the end there is still only one, then bypass the voting and announce the winner :) I have hosted competitions that didn't have a single entry, so I am always pretty happy once I get one! I will bump this thread up by posting a reminder :)
@swguevin Awesome shot Sheila! This is perfect for the mundane challenge this week. However, I am hosting the Abstract-mundane challenge and the tag for it is abstract-hexkey, not mundane-hexkey. So far we only have one photo.
