Music is my life. (Well, music and art and my family, ((which should have been listed first right there but that's ok.))) All of my life I've lived with it, through it, or because of it. I grew up in bars listening to my dad play his honky tonk music, my entire family plays music, writes music and sings. I had a few years there where my band was playing 2-3 shows a week and we were co-headlining and opening for some really awesome acts. It's just in my blood, in my soul.
Funny, I can find a song for just about every piece of art that I create. Something that exemplifies the lyrics perfectly. The visual representation of the sounds.
So I say...here's an idea to get your creative juices flowing.
Create pictures, works of art, based off of music, songs, and lyrics. You can pick the song before you shoot....or you can shoot and then see which song you think fits the artwork. Pick a song...pick a verse...pick a chorus...or pick the way the song makes you feel. Anything musical will work. Let's see if we can get some really creative work that moves people to sing that exact song in their heads....
tag it: songinspired
You think you'd like to do that? I know I would. (We should make sure we post the song in the caption...or, then again, maybe people should just guess??)
so I was seriously thinking about doing this last night! :D haha and that's what I'll be basing my next few photos off of. great minds surely do think alike! :D
@barrymikhal lol you're too funny! You can still chick up with us though and do some songs....
Or should I say, "manly" songs will suffice. (Metallica, Kiss, Rob Zombie...etc etc)
Ooooh I'm totally in! Mike (Harrison) and I were saying we could do a challenge in which we portray a word from a chorus or verse each day for a month or so. I think that's what I'll do - still fits in, yes? :)
I`m kind of a newbie here (joined on october 2),and since last week I`m allways giving a "soundtrack" to my photos, with Youtube link included. Two days ago it took me more than an hour to find the appropiate song!
...first,I was also thinking of photos based on songs, but it`s so challenging,I`m not ready yet :) ....
Like it, I actually named my two blur theme entries after Blur songs. Definitely a case of picking the title after the picture though! I also had an idea a while back to try and recreate classic album covers like a cover version photo kind of thing but I haven't had the time/inspiration to do anything yet!
I love this idea and often use lyrics to accompany my 365 photos. Sometimes I just feel the lyrics illustrate how I am feeling about that photo or what I want that photo to convey (and visa versa).
great idea! I've actually thought of many in the last several months (I usually come up with them while driving)...just haven't gotten around to the actual photo shoots yet!
The Ataris are my favorite band and I often shoot photos based around their lyrics. I've done a whole shoot around one of their songs, and otherwise just pick and choose lyrics. Definitely something I like doing!
...and so, become yourself, because the past, is just a goodbye. Don't you ever ask them why, if they told you, you would cry...so just look at them and sigh....
I'm new here, and i saw this discussion and i find it really interesting :D i already have a picture up which goes perfectly with snow patrols " chasing cars " song so i am defo up for it (:
@gingersanders load it up as the pic of the day, but when you're in the part where you title the pic, make sure on the "tag" line you put songinspired. It'll be filed under that so when people search that they will see your pic

I have so many songs that I just love!
(Here it is, see - http://365project.org/manek43509/365/2010-08-12)
I will happily try it again... But it will probably still be rubbish! haha
Ohh, thanks! :)
I think my work- like yours- reflects a lot of what I like to listen to as well or vice versa.
I can't wait to try this out and see what everyone else is going to come up with!

.....and know they love you.
Come on, us old people can do this!
