First of all, huge thanks to everyone who voted for my shot as the winner of ETSOOI 27! Let's keep the ball rolling and start a new round.
ETSOOI is an acronym started by MaryBeth @espyetta that stands for editing the sh#t/stuffing/sorriness out of it. It is the war cry of the hopelessly PS addicted and here on 365 we like nothing more than to feed those addictions...
Usually there has been a set theme for the challenge, but the last couple of rounds have been themeless, and I thought we might go for at least one more round of open choice (@northy already asked whether we should continue with the themed or themeless approach - what do you guys think?). But anyway, this time you can ETSOOI any image of your choice, and emphasize any aspect of your image/processing.
The challenge starts tomorrow, January 24, and runs through to Jan 31 (GMT+2 Helsinki time). I'll then choose the finalists, and the voting will take place from Feb 1 onwards.
Multiple entries are accepted, please tag your photos ETSOOI-28. The only rule is that your photo must be taken within the time frame announced.
Also feel free to post your wonderfully ETSOOIed photos on this thread as inspiration for others.
Good luck, and happy ETSOOing!
(Please let me know if I forgot something important... :))
@staceylane Either way is fine for me as well. And @traceyhn that doesn't sound crazy at all - why not let the current winner choose the theme/themelessness (is that a word?)!
I just made an ETSOOI called Twisted Brown ETSOOI...last week. Sigh. boo hoo! I wish it had been during an ETSOOI challenge. ;0) But I am planning on doing one for this ETSOOI 27! Winter and "busy times" are great ETSOOI times!
@eevarita@staceylane@traceyhn Hey guys! I was reading your "to theme, or not to theme, that is the question" comments. Some of us had just noticed that when we did a theme paired with ETSOOI, it seemed to limit people so much, that we did get very many entries. I think that was the concern. So on the last go round...I forget who was the host, I can go look it up, she, @northy, and I discussed dropping the theme. So that is why it "went away." I think I will start a discussion about it on main discussion boards and let people say which way they prefer it. How about that?
@espyetta Thanks MaryBeth -- I just posted to that thread (and over the holidays, I started the 'no theme theme' since I figured folks would be busy and not submmit if I limited it too much)...here's what I wrote:
It may be about the goal -- no theme, more submissions, more opportunity for creative response; while with theme, fewer and more focused submissions and serves as a guide and prompt. Both seem to be worthy, so maybe we think in terms of Katie's point -- @archaeofrog -- that every once in a while there's a 'no theme' theme if someone is willing to head that (knowing they'll have a harder judging task). Maybe every few months for that makes sense.

Sorry for the stupid question but do I need to post this somewhere else as well as in this thread?
