Edward Hopper (July 22, 1882 – May 15, 1967) was a prominent American realist painter and printmaker. While he was most popularly known for his oil paintings, he was equally proficient as a watercolorist and printmaker in etching. Both in his urban and rural scenes, his spare and finely calculated renderings reflected his personal vision of modern American life. (from Wikipedia)
The challenge starts today, Friday, 9/11/2015 and ends on Monday, 9/21/2015.
Mr. Hopper has a wide variety of subjects that he painted so I think there should be something for everyone!

I am looking forward to seeing what you find! Happy photographing!

Good choice but we have had him before but don't see why we can't have him again.
As a suggestion, as this challenge continues to be a favourite, maybe we should set up a list of previous challenges like the ones we have on the mundane / F-word / MFPIAC challenges that goes into the challenge narrative.
Having said that I am not sure where we would find all the challenges! I have done a little research in the threads and have come up with a starting list from those used in 2015/4, although not in order. Perhaps others can add to it and then we can use it? What do folk think?
@dibzgreasley thanks for the update list i used to keep it up to date but lost it. !! , but really a lot of us werent around here when it started so it wouldnt really matter if they now get repeated...
@dibzgreasley@kali66 I think to have repeats is no problem especially since this challenge has been going for over two years! Maybe one can just check the last 6 to 8 and not repeat one of them.
i also know there was an album opened for this challenge, you might want to ask peter de graaff (pardon the spelling if i'm wrong) as he might know who monitored it as they might have a more complete list - where they kept the winning post for each challenge. this artist challenge is one of the more interesting challenges in terms of how you might emulate or better that artist's work. i may not be putting in entries all the time but viewing the artist's work certainly gives my non-existent creativity some all important kick in the ass most of the time.
here's the list i had in my archives and bookmarked pages. note that there must be a couple missing between steve mccurry and cezanne, and i don't know who came after turner.

I think we had an artist named Rothko (or something like that too- I can check my archives for the ones I've participated in).
