technique challenge - Red Shirt Photography

October 11th, 2016
thanks for the votes and nice compliments for my smoke photo!

I don't know if this technique has been used before but it intrigued me!

for this next Technique Challenge, I am choosing "Red Shirt Photography".
you can read about this school of photography here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_shirt_(photography)

Jules Gervais-Courtellemont was one of the photographers who took these autochrome photos. You can read up on him here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jules_Gervais-Courtellemont

here are some of his images:

here are some more examples by one of his contemporaries Hans Hildenbrand:

I hope this use of vibrant color is a fun challenge both in composition and in post processing.

the challenge starts today, October 11, 2016 and runs until October 21, 2016. photos must be taken within this time frame.

Oh, very cool! The pictures remind of what I end up with after converting my old film negatives to digital.
