welcome 2017 and welcome to all new and returning 365-ers... here's a great challenge to start off your year... the eye of the beholder challenge...
In the words of Jeff Walker, the creator of this challenge, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" (quoting Margaret Wolfe Hungerford who is credited with coining the phrase in 1878).
Your objective in this challenge is to catch something most people would not consider to be beautiful, and find a way to capture it so that it comes across beautifully. You can achieve it any way you wish. This challenge will help you with your composition and lighting skills. The way you compose the shot or the way you use light will usually bring out the beauty of your subject. It will also help you look at your surroundings differently. Everything is potentially a beautiful photograph. It is not a matter of finding something to photograph, but finding a way to photograph something that makes photographing it worthwhile.
There is not a specific item or theme for this challenge. The only rule is that the subject you photograph has to be something that, if people were watching you photograph it, they would be wondering what has possessed you to photograph something which seems so plain, bland, boring, ugly, etc. Beauty is where you find it, and it is all around you. Train your eye to see things differently.
The Eye of the Beholder 75 begins now, January 1, 2017 and will end on January 9th...
Entries must be taken and posted within this time frame. I will choose the finalists shortly thereafter and open the voting. The winner gets bragging rights and the opportunity to host EOTB 76 :)
@clicketynix most excellent.... join the club (or ask your husband to do so)... after 5 years my husband is still shaking his head at some of my chosen subjects :)
@northy Hi. I'm a very green newby but I would like to have a go at this. How do we enter our photo? Do you just upload as normal and add the extra tag? If this is so is it possible to enter more than the one photo - within the time limits, by tagging photos on successive days. Many thanks Rob Z
@robz hi Rob - welcome to 365! Yes, just upload a photo and add the extra tag... the photo has to go into your project... it can't just appear here... if you're an ace member you get extra albums - some folks will keep a separate album for challenge entries....
