NEW! Street 45: Focus on Figures now open

June 1st, 2018
COMPETITION NOW CLOSED - PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR APOLOGY AND EXPLANATION!

Amazed to have won the last Street Challenge, thanks for your votes! Thanks for hosting @ginaanderson. Now for my first ever host.......

Street photography covers such a huge range of possibilities, it can seem a little daunting. I want to direct this challenge towards people. It doesn’t have to include faces but it can, of course. B&W or colour or anything in between!

Basically candid shots of people in a public place.

Be it city, village, countryside, beach, stations, airports, sports stadium, street theatre artists, outdoor eating areas…….the list is far from exhaustive and it doesn’t matter. The point is that it does not have to be a city street. Wherever you happen to find yourself with your camera that is a public place. The only stipulation is to have a non-posed figure or people somewhere in the shot.

This is where your zoom, if you have one, can be your friend. It can bring you in closer than you would otherwise feel comfortable without having to physically stand close to people.

Competition will run for 3 weeks from today, Friday 1st June until the end of Thursday 21st June when I will open it up for votes for the finalists.

Tag your photos Street-45 and let’s see what we can find out there. Enjoy yourselves!

Oh, didn't realise you were hosting ... I will try and participate as I am in a good place for that type of photography, at the moment. I'll go tag today's photo as a start, and try and do more over the coming 3 weeks.

Thanks for hosting this street challenge.
I took that one yesterday. (31/05), one day too early for entering this challenge. Anyhow, I will post some more street-photo in the days to come. Starting with Paris (as @jamibann ) on Monday/Tuesday.

Just to kick start the proceedings, but like the one above from Vincent, not entered for the competition: it would be very odd to enter one I am hosting after all! Just for fun to get the ball rolling.......

Can I clarify - Is there a requirement for shots to be in B&W? Thanks.

@lumpiniman Love this - it's great! I think it is a coincidence most of the shots so far have been black and white. Colour is very welcome too. I just wanted people in it.......and this is fabulous :)

Thank you @casablanca for letting me know about the challenge. These two were just enjoying the moment in Northern Ireland standing on rocks just looking out to sea.

My apologies: I got my dates mixed up and closed it a few hours early at the end of 20th June as I wrote 2 days ago, not 21st as it says at the top. But many thanks for 86 fantastic entries. Voting now OPEN on the finalist thread.
