January Words of the Month

December 30th, 2018

Happy New Year to everyone and a Warm Welcome to our new members joining this fantastic community for the first time! 2019 is now here, and with it comes new hopes, dreams, and a renewed vigor to make our 365 journey the best ever!

Thank you to everyone who continues to contribute their suggestions each month. Your continued faithfulness to this challenge makes my job as host of this challenge a breeze!

There are some words suggested this month that may need a bit of explanation. Janus, used on the 5th, was the Roman god of beginnings and endings who could look to the future and the past. He was depicted as having two faces with one looking forward and the other towards the back.

DoF stands for Depth of Field while ICM stands for Intentional Camera Movement.
Craptastic mess is a term and tag made famous by northy @northy. What she calls craptastic messes are usually anything but. The last day of the month is meant to encourage those who do not usually enter challenges to choose a challenge and give it a try.

For newer members, the word of the month is a great place to dip your toes into. This challenge is also a great place for older members who occasionally lose their mojo and need ideas or inspiration. It can be a great challenge for those who want to go that extra nine yards to do a full month of words. The choice is yours!

The tag for the month will continue in the same format as before, first three letters of the month, the year and then ‘words’ (jan19words).

Feel free to do one word, a few, or all of them. They can be done in any order you choose, or on the suggested day. Pop in daily, or just on occasion. This is your challenge, and your project. Until next month, enjoy!

Bonus words are Garnet, the birthstone of January, can be found in a rainbow of colors. It is considered a great gift to symbolize friendship and trust and is thought to keep the wearer safe during travel. The two zodiac signs associated with January are Capricorn and Aquarius. Capricorns, who are born from January 1 - 19, are one of the zodiac's most energetic and hardworking of signs while members of Aquarius can be identified by their unique style and their flowing personalities. The January birth flowers are the carnation and snowdrop. Other bonus words are birthday and anniversary.

@northy LOL Northy. I like your word. Could you give me a definition of what craptastic means? I'm guessing it means taking something awful and turning it into some beautiful?
