I'm looking for ideas for when I break into newborn photography, I want to see creative angles, props, editing, anything that you think makes an unforgettable newborn photo!
@pawsalmighty Concentrate on the little things. Babies grow *really* *Fast*. Seriously Fast.
So concentrate on the size of hands and feet in relation to something that will put it in perspective. Easiest thing would be parents hands.
newborn baby feel are my favorite part...they are somehow "scale" model compared to all the other parts (example, the hands are on the wide side, head is extra big, etc) and that just makes them even cuter. Take lots of feet pix! :-)
I would say keep them individual to the child and family. New borns are usually cute little things but doign the same shots for everone makes them very generic, if you want a photo that the family will treasure make each one special.
Allow enough time for each shoot, babies don't work to anyones schedule but their own but with enough time you will no doubt have a period when they're sleeping and more co-operative.
Both my children were premature so didn't have a newborn photo shoot, although I took my son at about 5 months for photos and he was not much bigger than a newborn but was playing and trying to stand up!
Here are two of my favourite of my son at about 6 weeks old, he was about 3lb in each picture and in the first especially stil a little yellow from jaundice.
They're not the traditional newborn shots but mean the world to me
Hey, I don't know if you have started this already, but one of the two best tips I ever received were: bring a noise machine (I have an app on my iphone) and bring a space warmer (Not to close to baby! But keeps them sleepy). I thought that may be helpful if you hadn't heard that ;)
@nicolekos I've heard that some photogs use a lightly warmed rice pack under the baby but that made me nervous. the noise machine I've heard about. I'll see if blackberry has an app :) @marinda a white noise generator helps soothe baby and keep them from crying and keep them sleeping
@schoolnsuch awwww. I had twins 5 years ago and wish I had some good photos of the newborn age. That was before I got a decent camera. this is beautiful, love the tones :) Thanks for sharing!
