I’ve always wondered why, when I upload my photos they looked different from what I see in Photoshop. Well tonight I found out why. I did research and it seems only Apple Safari can read all types of color spaces off the bat. Firefox and IE need it to be enabled and Google Chrome doesn’t support it at all. To see if your browser supports attached ICC profiles you can check here: http://www.color.org/version4html.xalter. So I’ve started to process my raw files in sRGB and it looks pretty close to what I see even in Chrome.
Alongside ICC profile issues, all uploaded images get resampled to a much lower quality. Take a look at mine yesterday for a very good case in point, as I posted up a link to the proper version in the caption.
It's also possible that the ICC profile doesn't even survive the resample, but it's not something I've tested.
Thanks for providing that link. It was so interesting to see the Firefox couldn't support the color profiles. However, Chrome did just as well as Safari for me on 2 different computers.
