Removing Shadow?

October 24th, 2010
Sorry if this has been posted before...I am trying to edit photos from a session today and I'm having the hardest time trying to remove shadows.

What is the best way to do this using photoshop 7?

Depending on the shadow, and allowing for the limitations of PS Elements, I would suggest trying the dodge tool (on a duplicate layer so you don't damage your original) and if that isn't adequate, make a selection of the shadow using magic wand or lasso tool and use a brightness/contrast adjustment layer (or levels) to adjust only the selected part.

I hope that helps - uneven light can be painfully tricky to fix in PP.

The new photoshop has an excellent content aware healing brush. You just paint over the are you don't like, photoshop checks out the surrounding image for patterns most likely to properly fill that area, and then does its magic.

Not sure if that option is in Elements as well.
