-$50 to $70 for the propane insect fogger. YES, INSECT FOGGER
-$5 for the propane (camping propane works fine)
-$5 for the Mineral Oil.
-$1 lighter
I have a plug-in fogger and it works great with "Fog Juice, but I wanted something portable to use on-location. That's when I bought the insect fogger. I started out using "Fog Juice" in the insect fogger, but it was a failure. And by failure, I mean that it was only sufficient if you just needed enough smoke to take pictures of action figures, but certainly not enough smoke for real people.
At this point, I thought I just wasted $60, but I started searching YouTube and was amazed when I found out that Bee Keepers use this with Mineral Oil for their bees- and the amount of smoke was amazing!
What is "Mineral Oil" you ask? I'm glad you asked! Well, not really. It is a liquid laxative! I know, this sounds like a bad joke, but I am being honest. You can purchase this at any pharmacy or most places that sell laxatives. Don't worry, inhaling the fumes didn't have any effect on my digestive system :)
And here is an example of a photo (all of the fog in this photo was from this one fogger and mineral oil- none of the fog is photoshopped)
The foggers range in cost, but I opted to go with one that had high ratings. This is the one I purchased for $60 (which apparently has gone up in price $10 because it's Spring)
But let me also add, this is a propane fogger, so it is a heat source. Don't get burned! (people that know me will think it's ironic that I am saying that)
Anyway, I thought this was too amazing not to share. If you try this, be safe and let me know what photos you take with this setup!

Here is a video clip from my very first experience with the mineral oil:
