April 15th, 2014
I don't know why...but when I tried to upload photos today in photoshop the program kept saying error...as in the file may be corrupt or already imported...which neither is true.

is there any hope?? what can I do?!

FYI--- I have an old Photoshop elements 5.0
it has worked fine and just started this today. I am beyond frustrated and afraid of losing my work....

help please!

thank you.

Were you uploading it from an SD card? Could be that the SD card is going bad. They usually last me about a year. But, even so, there are many free data retrieval programs to help you recover your pictures from that card.

Or, can you upload to Photoshop from another source? Maybe the Photoshop version you have is just getting too old (I think they are up to 12 now) or is corrupt. If it is just corrupted, you can uninstall and reinstall it. That should fix that problem.

Good luck. I hope you figure it out!

Try uploading your shots to a file on your computer and then importing them into elements rather than doing it direct.

Yes - I would agree - copy them on to the PC first. Working direct from the card is never a good idea. See if they open in another program, like Windows Photo Viewer or similar. If they do, it is unlikely that the image is corrupted. If you have access to another PC with Photoshop loaded, then try that. Any version of Photoshop should open a jpg image, no matter how ancient it is (not raw files, though). One of my PCs is still running Photoshop 7, dating from about 2003 - it will still open jpgs from my camera

@pistonbroke @swilde i actually upload them to my PC first then once I open PS it will prompt me to "add new files".
When i attempt to do that it reads the file error.

I did have one tiny success in uploading a photo to Light room and then sending it to Photoshop elements....it let me save it then.

i probably need an updated version ....just trying to make sure i won't lose any of my work if i do delete it....(photos are saved in my pictures)

thank you for the help.
