EXIF information after converting

January 3rd, 2015
I shot RAW and then use Paintshop Pro to convert my photos to .png for posting. I noticed that my EXIF data did not carry over. Is it because I am posting .png and not .jpg?

I had the same thing happened in my photo. I wasn't converting though. I was just adding a text on the picture and EXIF data were changed.

Hmm my exif data has always shown and suddenly stopped? Did yours show before/is it a new thing too?

Some editors and browsers strip out the information. Perhaps Paintshop Pro is one of them. Does it do that for jpeg too?

@aliha @frankhymus My data has been there before. I am editing my photos the same way I did in the past. Very strange.

Are you using an Apple product to do the upload? Depending on the version, Apple strips the EXIF to "protect your privacy."

From Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exchangeable_image_file_format

"It is not supported in JPEG 2000, PNG, or GIF."

I had problems even exif data in tiff files. Thats why, I use JPEG through whole process and final image.

@kannafoot @wayoflife Ron-I do not use Apple products. Tuncay-thank you for the information, I will post on this page using jpeg files. I have been posting with .png files for the last few years because they are a better quality photo.

@cirasj I know. But these practical problems are far worse, imho. The image quality in final product isn't worse than png, just if you begin to edit jpeg files you will see difference.
