If your camera gets stolen there may be a new way to find it

A friend of mine sent me this site this morning: http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/ . You drop a photo you've taken with your camera on to the spot asked and if your camera model stores its camera's serial number in its exif data it will scour the internet for uploads with the same serial number. I had a Lumix stolen from me last year. Sadly it didn't store this data in the exif. I tried a photo from my canon DSLR and it did find my flickr site so i guess it works.

That is intresting, but how will that get your camera back? ( sorry if the answer is obvious)

@cookie123 You'll possibly have photos of the person that currently has your camera. If anything you can glean the serial number from the exif to give to the police. If they have no info they won't investigate.
