Does anyone know how to fix this? I found a test chart to determine which type but I can't work out how to fix it.
I usually toggle around the screen when I shoot always after the eyes in sharpest focus, but for some reason and I have the red square show on my camera where focus was requested and it was on the eyes but focus isn't being achieve where I've requested. So I tried to use centre focus spot focus then recompose. I've had varied results.
Hi Carol. I see that you use a Canon 7D. This camera has an AF microadjustment feature in which can you change the AF point back and forwards for all your lenses or just a specific one. Check out page 211 of your manual for full details.
@triptych_angel no Emma don't say that, I mean it's good to hear it's not me but....... I've just reset camera to new and now I can't reset the toggle function lol. I'm trying out the centre focus and recompose, taken 10 shots (nothing special that i'd share lol)and hit jackpot everytime. I will aim to do 100 tests and get back to you with the results.
@triptych_angel Emma go to the Canon site and lookup firmware update. I haven't bothered but I will sort this one, my lecturer said I should update. I'm assuming with the camera connected to the computer it will do it.
@dcr thanks I'm working my way through it, I hope confusion plus lol. I was concentrating on my camera so much I misread my daughters soccer game info and took her to the wrong place and we missed the game. :O
@dcr sorry also I forgot to say that firstly my 70-200f2.8 L lens was dropped but I had it checked recently by Canon and they say it's fine. Then my camera and new 50mm lens were dropped too. It's my 50mm that I'm having the trouble with and i didn't get it checked unfortunately.

Good luck.
Oh and there is a firmware update for it too
I've not had any issues with focus on my 7D. Generally the microadjustment feautre is issued for any lens issues as opposed to camera issues.
Carol-Ann are you using multiple lenses and have you had the same issue with all of them?
