Tips for monitor calibration?

May 2nd, 2010
Does anyone have any tips or links to sites for calibrating your monitor?

I've got a Lenovo R600 used for pictures taken with a Canon S90. The display colors are not as saturated as the actual file image, and the color tones are off. This makes it difficult when viewing photos to select for printing or posting here, or when editing, since what I see on the screen can be quite different from what the image actually is.

Ideally, I'd like a method that's cheap or free, since I'm not looking to totally match a specific printing process or for professional quality results. I'm just looking to be in the ballpark.

Any pointers would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks Nikki! I look a quick look at it and it looks pretty thorough. I'll try to plow through it this weekend. I let you know how I make out.

Find and download Adobe Gamma Loader. Run that control panel wizard and you'll be set :) I've used it for years!
