green screen paint.... for cheap!

OK, so I have gone online and in stores just trying to find a cheaper way to get a larger green-screen since I intend to use digital backdrops for in studio work I am doing. Problem is that a cheap green screen is just that.. cheap, let's too much light through or just shows up funky when you subtract.

Plus I wanted to add a stool to it and draping any of the fabrics begets shadows that just don't work very well and I end up having to blend blah blah blah....

So..... I went to a fe paint stores and got samples like others before me have done. But I wanted something cheap and right out of the can......

Dutch Boy D26-1 (Sunlit Forest) about 17 for a gallon and it goes a long way. Just make sure to get an even coat.

Big tip.. instead of using cloth for the flooring? Use a large piece of packing paper (the stuff that comes on a roll for super cheap) Paint it and use painters tape to hold it in place! Replace as necessary.

I know there is probably a thread out there already but I couldn't find it so I am just hoping to help someone else out.

Hope this helps someone :)

interesting find! Ive looked at greenscreen stuff in the past but never commited to buying anything. I tihnk i like this idea better, but i dont have a place of my own where i could paint a wall with it, but maybe i could just put up a few sheets of packing paper on the wall or something....

Got any links to an online store for the paint and paper?

@3nder Dutch boy paint is at places like ACE Hardware, True Value or local specialized type paint stores, the big box stores don't carry it. If you are in the states check this link out:

If not you may have to search a little harder but I'm sure there is somewhere you can find it.

@jessicapena Hope I didn't step on your toes here, just thought I could help out! :)

Your first green screen shot got me wondering...do you have a stool or box painted too? It looks like your daughter was sitting on something. I was wondering how hard that was to edit out if it wasn't painted?

lol that is what led me on the search for paint lol! it was a stool under my green-screen fabric. I am in the process of painting a better stool though as using the fabric leads to wrinkles in the fabric.
