Rhino Trackers by dkbarnett

Rhino Trackers

These guys were out early in the morning tracking on foot the endangered black desert adapted rhinos. After they found them we drove as far as we could in our ute, then had to walk - but did see them and got photos! The man on the left is from the Namibian Police force as is there as protection against poaches. The second man is a tracker who has been in this remote area for 12 years! The other two
Trackers spend a few weeks at each conservancy. So far in this conservancy they haven't lost any rhinos to poaching, but it is such a problem. Unfortunately $60,000 US per kilo of rhino horn on the black market is why. So crazy - just to be ground up and drunk for its so called properties!!
What a shame that poaching is such a problem there. Scandalous, really! This is a great capture, and each of the guys looks like quite a character. I'll bet they have some stories to tell!

They look like they could entertain you with some stories. Great shot of them and the terrain you were on.
Poaching is so wrong, especially when it is endangered animals.

Excellent photo. So pleased there is someone there to look out of the poor rhino's.

I hope you spotted that dangerous tripod lurking in front of the Toyota they can be scary when roused or is that why they're hiding around the side of the vehicle 🙂

@jamibann @littleconnie @paul10 Thanks for commenting. I am sure these guys would have lots of stories to tell. They certainly aren't enjoying any of life's luxuries while on assignment here.
@johnsutton Haha - good spotting!!
