This young toddler looks as though he is just as heavy as the young lad who is carrying him! The people were so very friendly, all greeting us individually. So dry and so dusty! They couldn't believe that we have more sheep than people in New Zealand!
This really caused me to stop and think. I have never associated the idea of of overweight children with African countries such as Namibia. It has always seemed to be a problem associated with westernized countries. Does the population have a westernized diet - rather than their traditional diets.
@robz Rob I'm really not sure why he was such a large infant - they certainly don't have a western diet - their main food is a kind of porridge mixed with milk. Sometimes they have meat when they kill an animal. No one else present was overweight! - apart from one woman who may have been pregnant!
@dkbarnett Thank you for your answer Delwyn. I hope the little fellow is OK. It is good to know that traditional diets are still possible - I had horrible images of McDonalds.etc
