2015 February 28: To celebrate the unexpected but welcome warmth of this last day of February, during the afternoon I went walking/birding at one of my favorite local ponds. I was still trying to reach 10,000 steps as the last glimmers of day turned to night.
The scene was permeated with excited anticipation of spring: a slight swell to the buds on the trees, the feeling of warmth seeping through the chilly breeze, the melting snow, a noticeable dwindling in the number and species of winter birds as they begin their spring migration...
(As an interesting note: The full-scale replica of the Saturn V rocket in the distance is the only Saturn V display where the rocket is stacked vertically. It stands 363 feet tall, equivalent to a 37 story building. It makes for an interesting view from the trail!)
