Poplar Tree

Day 167 of 365: Poplar Tree

2015 June 16: Although this poplar has been dead for years, we leave it standing because our backyard woodpeckers seem to enjoy it ...We have such interesting and "brimming-with-character" Downy woodpeckers, Northern flickers, and Red-bellied woodpeckers, with occasional Yellow-bellied sapsuckers and very infrequent Hairy woodpeckers.

Although this tree is located in a rather out-of-sight place in our yard, I enjoy walking over to it at times to admire the perfectly-round holes that the woodpeckers have drilled.
That's wonderful that you keep it for the birds.

Love this!!! We had a poplar tree we left up also for the woodpeckers, but the last storm we had blew it over!!! I miss hearing the woodpeckers drumming the tree that was close. Now they have found another tree further back in our woods. Great shot!! FAV!
