Collage: Hazy Mountain, Eerie Sunset, Great Blue Heron
2015 June 30: Today's post is a collage of things that I want to remember from the photos that I took today:
A thick haze lingered low over the mountain all day long, and as the day progressed into evening the sunset was cast in a mysteriously eerie light. The sun appeared as a small glowing orb hovering in the hazy sky ...I have never seen such a sight before today!
According to our news reports, these unusual sights were due to smoke from fires in southern Canada and Washington. An area of high pressure centered over Utah sent this smoke thousands of miles south and east across the United States.
Although it has nothing to do with the smoke, when I was outdoors carefully photographing the sunset a Great Blue Heron flew directly overhead. I always enjoy watching these birds and was thrilled to see one flying so low over my yard! It was a fitting end to a quite interesting day for photography.
