2015 July 1: This morning was overcast and the atmosphere remained rather thick with haze. The world was eerily still and relatively quiet as I stepped out onto our deck …The silence was broken only by the sound of a few of our backyard birds quietly calling to each other in subdued tones.
With the sun obscured and thick haze filling the air, it felt to me as if we were in the midst of a day-long solar eclipse. My son, however, remarked that he imagined this must be how it would feel to be in the eye of a tornado ...It was so peaceful, still, and calm that we felt sheltered from any storms that might be raging elsewhere; but the air was so heavy that we expected one at any moment.
This afternoon I heard the announcement that storms were rapidly approaching our area -- bringing with them strong wind and heavy rainfall. I immediately grabbed my camera and ran outdoors to take photos before the storm arrived.
Looking for subjects to photograph around my yard, I noticed that our butterfly bush was swarming with bees, butterflies, and insects. I was quite amused to see this butterfly dive-bombing a large bee ...and I was glad that they appeared quite willing to share!
Great timing and nice shot! We watched a butterfly going thru the sprinkler the other day ... back and forth ... over and over. Watching them can be amusing.
Perfect timing!! I love how you find that the most gentle of creatures will take on the mighty if need be. I've also seen the bullying of some creatures to the gentle ones, guess it's like that in all kinds of lives!! Still, you always root for the underdog!! Glad to see the butterfly standing it's ground and then they shared!! FAV!
