Day 218 of 365: Hummingbird Braving the All-Day Rain
2015 August 6: Very early in the morning thunder began slowly rolling through the atmosphere, and rain began steadily falling. This turned into a very welcome all-day event as our garden plants, gasping for a good rain, sprang back to life in the cooler temperatures and steady deluge.
Our Ruby-throated Hummingbird, however, didn't seem as pleased. He looked slightly drenched as he ventured over to our nectar feeder every few minutes for a few quick sips before swiftly flying back to the cover of the trees.
Having several photos of him that I enjoy from today, I decided to make a collage and include my favorites ...especially the one of him coming in for a landing at the feeder, and the one of him with his head buried in it!
We were at someone's home once who had a feeder in their yard. There were at least 4 hummers feeding off of it peacefully. I never seen anything like it again. Hummers are such nasty little birds to each other. Nice collage.
