Slightly Soggy Mrs. Cardinal

Day 362 of 365: Slightly Soggy Mrs. Cardinal

2015 December 28: Over the past few days (December 24 -28) 5.74 inches of rain have fallen in my area ...nearby areas have gotten as much as 13.32 inches of rain. A local weatherman calculated this and found that if it had been cold enough for us to have gotten snow instead of rain, we would have gotten 54 inches (4.5 feet!) of snow ...nearby areas would have gotten as much as 107 inches (almost 9 feet!) of snow.

Our area rarely gets any snowfall; when we do it is usually a wet icy snow that shuts the roadways down. Fortunately, our temperatures this week were in the 70 degrees F. Some of our roadways were shut down due to flooding, but I prefer that to having ice and snow on the roads.

Another storm rolled through this afternoon, after which the birds came out in droves for their meal. I noticed that Mr. and Mrs. Cardinal were rather soggy, but she seemed satisfied at her suet dinner.
So nice to see kind hearted people like yourself putting out food for the birds in these trying conditions :)

Lovely capture of the Mrs. It seems that there is crazy weather all around this year. Ours is pretty normal right now. Just cold!

Oh, this is so cute! We almost never get snow in Athens, and we had a really nice weather all the past weeks, but today the temperature suddenly dropped and I heard we will have some snow too - apparently just snowflakes that melt before touching the ground.
