Pansies Emerging from the Melting Snow

2016.01.24 Sunday: I was pleased today to see that my pansies have wintered the cold and snow quite well. I thought that this one was quite photogenic standing tall into the sunshine through the glittering melting snow.
Great capture! How could it be surviving?

That's a very encouraging sight. A layer of snow seems to accelerate the growth of some things. I guess the snow acts as an insulating layer.

There's so much to love about pansies. I can imagine how excited you were to find this fresh, green growth popping up in a gap in the ice. Such a pretty picture!

It reminds me of the crocuses when they push through the snow- although the squirrels have eaten all of mine. )o: Pretty shot!
