First and foremost, thank you so much to everyone who looks, and comments on my shots, and thank you for the faves. I really appreciate your kindness.
This is a view of part of Southend pier (at 1.34 miles/2.16km it's the longest pleasure pier in the world), and the sun is highlighting part of the Isle of Grain (we think) in Kent (my county of birth), just across the Thames estuary from Southampton: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Grain
Lester and I went to Basildon to support our daughter, Barrie, who was one of the organisers at a craft fair today. It was run to help raise funds for a charity climb of Mount Kilimanjaro which she is taking part in next year. After helping set up and having a look round, we went to Southend for lunch and a walk along the waterfront. It was a bit cold and it got very windy but it was still enjoyable.

Nice shot. Love the beams of light. My dad once sailed a small boat into the pier and did quite a lot of damage to the boat! LOL. The pier was OK though. I was very small then.
