..... and preferably learn to crawl before you try walking!
Father Christmas has been very kind and generous and given me a DSLR today, so I had to have a bit of a play, and found myself tinkering with f numbers and ISO speeds without knowing the first thing about them. Big TUT!!! Tomorrow I'll start over and go right back to basics and get acquainted with the auto settings first. But it *is* Christmas. :-)

Ooh how exciting! It is fun practising with the manual settings but very tempting to slip into 'auto' mode sometimes. I done some of the magazines helpful too. Have a great time playing :-)
This looks as if you are well on the way!! Enjoy it! I had a camera too, a pocket size one with lots of weird settings. We went out with the dog this afternoon and were both so busy trying out new settings he had a great time and disappeared on a squirrel hunt for about ten minutes before we missed him!!
@clairefisher Thank you, Claire. @zanettie Thanks, Nettie - FC is a very nice man. :-) @timandelke Thank you, Elke, I'm sure I shall - along with a deal of head scratching, I shouldn't wonder! @chamal Thank you, Charles, I'll do my best. @jtookey150 Thank you, Jean. I hope you enjoy yours too. I'm in the same position as you with manual settings, although I've decided to get used to the automatic ones and the feel of the camera to start with. The nice thing about digital is that you don't waste loads of expensive film when pictures don't work. It would be fun to compare notes.
@hamble Thank you Hamble. That's kind to say I was brave, I thought it was hot-headed of me :-D @anitahoyle Thanks, Anita. No, I really don't understand the technical stuff - steep learning curve coming up! Sounds as if you'll be having fun with your compact - I bet Alfie enjoyed his bid for freedom!
