These percussion blocks are part of a 1940s mechanical organ called Lucy. She would have been used in a Belgian cafe, rather like a jukebox.
It was fun trying to catch the gadongkers [ technical term ;-) ] in motion.
Lucy and 11 of her friends were being put through their paces at various locations around Hitchin town centre today. I found the event on a web surf and since Lester and I are mechanical organ fans, we decided to go to see them and hear them play. It was a smashing afternoon. Hitchin is a nice bustling, buzzy place on a Saturday afternoon and has some lovely old architecture.

Interesting story and information on, once again, something I never knew about. Love that invigorating music....reminds me of being on a carousal or attending a festival. Great photo!
