Icy canal

Probably better on large view if you have a moment. Thank you. :-)

This is a stretch of the Grand Union Canal at Marsworth. According to my resident canal expert (Lester) , the breaks were probably caused by a narrowboat navigating the waterway; there's a discernible line of finer shards of ice which suggests the path of a boat. Good luck to them in this cold because you have to stand outside to steer but at least nbs are toasty-warm inside.

There's a detail shot of the ice here if you'd like to have a look-see : http://365project.org/dulciknit/on-the-day-extr/2013-01-23

That looks sooo cold! Love the stark trees and the curvy swoop of the canal. Your eyes are led right to the horizon.

A cracking good shot, Alison!

Super capture,Alison!! The boats have been breaking up the ice on the canal, here,so the ducks are able to swim about.

Beautiful. If the ice was thicker it would be a great place for skating.

Nice pov, love the curve of the canal, really makes your eyes follow round the scene. Yes wouldn't want to be driving that barge!
