I like St.Albans Cathedral. It's quite austere in comparison to some other cathedrals but that gives it its own beauty and its lines are well defined. And the soft, earthy colours of the painted stonework are lovely.
St.Alban was the first Christian martyr. Most of the current structure of the cathedral that bears his name dates from Norman times . If you'd like to know some more, here's a link to the Wiki entry : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Albans_Cathedral

@m9f9l Thank you, Mary. I see what you mean - I guess it's the warm, earthy tones that give it that look. It's nowhere near as richly decorated and ornamented as some cathedrals, though.
Your pov here is superb. Lots of views of the arches and stone work. The tones are certainly soft and attractively coloured. I must certainly try to see it myself, it's not that far from us.
That's a great pov and composition you have chosen there Alison. You have managed to get a lot of detail and shape in without the image looking cluttered.
The POV is perfect and the colors of the stonework really show up beautifully. This Cathedral certainly as some fabulous lines and curves. Love te criss-cross view you used.
Really lovely
