This poor blackbird had got itself trapped inside a church in Evesham.
It was flying up to the windows and back but while Lester and I were there it never managed to find its way back to the doorway through which it must have originally flown. It was making strange little sounds which I assume were signs of its distress.
Sadly, there was no way to help it because the instincts that usually protect it also made it too wary to be approached. I hope it found its way out.
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

Very nice shot. Poor little guy wants out, wants his freedom again.. We often get birds flying into our church sanctuary. It's not unusual to have the sounds of birds chirping during our Sunday services. They usually find their way out, evidently, because by the next week, no chirps!
Oh dear - hope it did. It doesn't look as if it wants to be there. We have a pigeon in our shopping centre which moved in over during the winter and resists all attempts to evict it from its perch above the bakery...
Splendid photo. Great closeup and lighting and colours.
I do hope so too. It looks so cute. Fantastic capture of it. Great detail. I think they fly towards the light hoping to find an opening and that is why it was flying to the windows.
Wonderful capture - Oh how nice to have a camera handy with an opportunity like this! Your detail was marvelous. He even gave you a most puzzled expression about the whole hting.
Super capture! Love the wonderful details in the feathers and the woodwork. Definitely an odd combination to see the two together. Hopefully, he found his way to freedom. So glad you had your camera with you!
Great capture Alison. It's always upsetting to see a bird in such a panicky situation and there's nothing you can do to help it without causing further stress.
What a good shot of it. At least in one sense, you did capture it. It looks a very healthy and elegant looking blackbird. I hope it managed to get out. Probably, given time and without any humans around to make it jittery, it did.
Splendid photo. Great closeup and lighting and colours.
Go, little birdy.....
