The last thing you expect to see when you go to a small, local garden centre is a ten foot high gorilla!

I was out on an errand on Wednesday and decided to call in at a garden centre I hadn't been to for some months. It's very unusual in that it's independently run - most of them now belong to one or other of two large chains. It carries a stock of unusual garden statues but I'd never seen one of a gorilla there before!

I was kindly given permission to take shots of this splendid specimen and also to post one of them here.

Was the gorilla for sale or was he just giving you sales patter? :) He's very impressive. This reminds me. There's a sculpture of a gorilla in a local craft shop around here, and I keep meaning to take a shot of it.
