They're not in a burn at all, they're in a pond at a fishery but they are rainbow trout.
Lester and his Last Of The Summer Wine friends went off for one of their adventures on Tuesday, so I went off for one of my own to try out my circular polariser filter to get some shots of these fish. I bought it a while back and then put it in the bag and left it there! Typical novice's gadget buying behaviour on my part - get a fancy new toy without thinking about what to do with it and if I need it at all. Never mind, I can always learn.
Edit. Used it here.

Love their speckles and pink undersides. I made the same rookie purchase recently and haven't tried it out either. Intimidated by a filter.... it's a sad story.
They are such pretty fish! I keep my polarizer on all the time - it's fantastic for snowy shots, bright noontime shots, seeing through water shots... once you've used it, you'll never take it off. ;-)
Lovely subtle colours with the specking over their backs and the pink gils and fins. I'm not sure what a circular polariser filter does, but you seem to be making good use of it. I'll have to look it up. Always good to practise with a new filter and to see how it works.
Looks like your polarise filter has worked well with this water shot. I presume from elke's comment that it helps to focus through the water? It's a lovely shot whatever. You have got all the detail and colour of them. I think a shot of the last of the summer wine three could be a winner!
Alison, I just saw a comment on Alison Tomlins site re the filter. She said she used it to enhance skies along with wide angled lens. Her skies are certainly amazing.
@jennywren Thank you for that, Jen. I'm going to have to have a think about using one for landscapes on sunny days - if we ever get any!
As far as I can make out it's like polaroid sunglasses for your lens. :)
