No new photos today so this is from two weeks ago, and the tail end of this years local super bloom at Soda Lake (a prehistoric lake that every now and again, gets water. This was a now &again, Winter) Out on the Carrizo Plain (which we just got protected). This is all normally a desert landscape. That’s water reflecting the colorful mountains and their colors are derived from the various tiny wildflowers that are blooming profusely. Hard to tell with the shot from the phone. I’ll work on some of the images I got with the actual cameras.
Two years back, the super bloom was beyond spectacular (this year was merely, spectacular 😉 So this was two weeks ago and it might still be blooming since we’ve gotten a bit more rain but so have the weeds and 5hey too, are thriving! Taken with my phone because my camera is heavy enough that I didn’t want o hike this hill with it on. 4/19/19
Year 7 on this adventure! I’m especially appreciative of the community found here! I am inspired by everyone; learning from so many. Your shares make...
wow I'd love to see what you got with the camera as this had me mesmerised and I googled the place (never heard of it so that was a lovely little learning journey). I found some images that like so totally matched yours I came back and was mesmerised all over again! Great narrative and I'm so glad you have it protected.
The perspective with the people down there in the lower half of the image makes this really sing!
This is beyond gorgeous! Such beautiful layers of colour! Your narrative is so interesting and informative! Like KoalaGardens @koalagardens this is an area I know nothing about. Can’t wait to see some more images! I understand your choice of IPhone- I am finding it increasingly difficult to lug my big camera and lens around with me!
I love the layers in this. Wonderful narrative too. So glad this is a protected place for all to see, now. I’ve noticed one spectacular photographer here in the Dallas area uses a mirror-less camera, a Sony, I believe. I’m considering looking at that camera because my Nikon is just so heavy, my poor wrists are exhausted after a day of lugging it around.
