Apostle Praying by eleanor

Apostle Praying

At just over 7ft, this statue is hand-carved from Black Serpentine (also called Springstone). The artist, Wonder Mazhindu, has listed the price as R84 000 (around $11 000). This is part of an ongoing exhibition being held in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Looking at the scene, I wondered if the apostle was praying for someone to come and tidy up.
I like the line of that statue.... am imagining that the wood is very hard. Love the natural plinth on which it is placed. And maybe yes, praying for the worker to return to complete the job!

It's actually stone, not wood, quarried in Zimbabwe.
