The wine cellar at Groot Constantia is a museum today. The sculpture on the pediment is believed to be the work of the German sculptor Anton Anreith. It depicts fertility in a wonderfully curvy way! The date 1791 on the sculpture could indicate its year of completion, but another theory is that Hendrik Cloete, the owner, commissioned it to commemorate the excellent grape harvest he had in that specific year. I have been battling to take a picture of the cellar because the sun on the white walls reflects too strongly. This one was taken just after sunrise, as the first rays touched the top of the pediment.
