I have a love/hate relationship with the red sand of the Kalahari. I love the colour and the texture of the sand beneath my feet... BUT, I hate that I got caught in a sandstorm last week, and have had to return my camera to Canon for a service.
So, with no equipment available, I'll have fun posting fillers this week!

The sand colour is amazing. We'd only seen it in shots on tv travel programmes and in magazines. Then the last time we came out to SA we took time to travel round Namibia, and saw the red sands there. It's quite spectacular. Hope the camera is sorted soon and isn't too expensive an overhaul.
Oh Eleanor...nothing beats the beauty of this place, thanks so much for posting this and please post more of them whilst your camera is in for repairs :-) It has warmed my day as the grey clouds swirl through our valley and it's a wonderful shot that reflects the raw beauty of the Kalahari :-)
The colours are just incredible. Deep at each edge...fading towards the middle ...meeting at the horizon line. It would make a great print. Bummer about your camera but now we get to see more of the desert.
Beautiful colors! Isn't it crazy what the desert can do to electronics. When I was in West Africa, we have to keep all electronics in plastic bags...otherwise the sand just permeates everything. Gorgeous shot though!
