We were sitting, talking to Isaak Kruiper at the !Xaus Lodge craft village when I saw this little chap eyeing the food cooking on the coals. He's a wild Yellow Mongoose - one of a family who live near the craft village. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Mongoose
Isaak says that when there are no tourists around the mongooses will come into their area and nose around, looking for tit-bits. The Afrikaans name for this animal is "Witkwas Meerkat" (White Paint Brush Mongoose) because the tail has a distinctive white end.
