This picture was taken at the end of nautical twilight with the final touches of sunlight still powering up the clouds. I love the dimension long shutter speeds can bring to a photograph.

Fav for me, the colour of the sky is just amazing, the blue with stars... The red actually gives a volcanic look to the mountain....must be an amazing sight to see lit up..
This is a fantastic shot, Eleanor! You can even see some stars in the sky!! (I'm heading towards Tanzania in February to hike Kilimanjaro... Am undecided whether I'm looking forward or dreading the effort, lol! ^_^)

Looked at your other pics, and while it's great to see the mountain painted with such nice colours (and the pics are wonderful), I'm wondering how much electricity is spent to light it up
@scatcat Electricity usage is indeed a big factor. That's why it's only done for very specific landmark events, and the City Council insists on there being someone available to pay for the electricity used. So in theory, I could probably get it done for my birthday ... at a hefty price!
