18th July 2014

These must be some of my earliest photographs taken in a day - around 2.20am!

Thunder and lightning was forecast and the flashes actually woke me up they were so bright. As I lay in bed I remembered that I had downloaded a free app for my phone called ‘Lightning Cam’. I snuck out and in the pouring rain opened the velux window wide and wedged myself against the window frame to try and control the camera shake. There was so much lightning and I’ll be honest, I have never used the app before so there was also a bit of a learning curve. Rain was pouring down my arms but it was quite exciting to watch (the lightning not me!)

I have seen some fantastic photos on the news today that people have taken around the country and if we have any more lightning I am keen to get my 5D Mk3 on a tripod to try some long exposures.
Well done Emma for these captures!! Some remarkable shots here. I was in the garden when the lightening started the other night and very quickly went indoors. I keep meaning to have a go with the camera but I do find it very scary!!

Emma we were in Mousehole and the storm was awesome, all around us and out to see. Little D was over excited and terrified at the same time, else I would have been hanging out of a window somewhere. I found an incredible picture of lightening over St Michaels Mount, I'll try to find it again for you. FAV by the way!! xx

I love these Emma. They do give an impression of what the night must have been like. I remember storms with non-stop lightening here, almost like what I imagine being in a disco must be.
