This is turning out to be a great week for photography. We got a surprise invitation to visit a ‘friends only’ late night opening of Kew Gardens to see the new sculpture ‘The Hive’ with friends.

It is a fascinating sculpture It is a unique structure, inspired by scientific research into the health of bees. Designed by UK based artist Wolfgang Buttress, it was originally created as the centre piece of the UK Pavilion at the 2015 Milan Expo. The installation is made from thousands of pieces of aluminium which create a lattice effect and is fitted with hundreds of LED lights that glow and fade as a unique soundtrack hums and buzzes within the structure.

Following the lead of our friend John I also decided to try some ICM (intentional camera movement... this is the result by zooming out within a 4 second exposures. I started close up and then zoomed out to a wider angle leaving the last second at the widest angle to get sharp details of the surrounding trees. Here are some more images from the evening -
