I hate packing up to leave and my case is never as neat on the way home! It wasn't quite so bad this time as we had the use of the apartment for as long as we wanted it and we had time for a leisurely breakfast. The surf had been crashing all night and although the sun was shining the sea was very rough.
It seems fitting that my last image of our holiday should be similar to the first with a view of the village where we have been staying - Paul do Mar with the new sea wall protecting the against the crashing waves.
We returned the keys to the key safe and began our journey to Santa Cruz for our last Portuguese lunch. Mixed weather but no wrong turns.
The two hour delay at the airport following snow in the U.K. was not a great end to our trip! Goodby Madeira.
