27th March 2017

More spring flowers today, the time primroses at the Richmond and East Sheen cemeteries. We visited Colin's grandfathers grave where we planted crocus bulbs a few weeks ago to see how they were doing.

Imagine our surprise when we looked for the grave only to discover four holes where we had placed the bulbs. The holes were perfect and there was no sign of the original bulbs. We stopped at the cemetery office on our way out to check that they had not been removed by officials. Imagine our surprise when one of the really helpful staff explained that they would have been eaten by either squirrels, rabbits or badgers. Apparently squirrels will watch from the trees and then rush over and dig them all up once we had left. We are sort of hoping that if anything ate them it was badgers as they are rare and it is so unusual to have them living in town! In the meantime as there were no crocuses to photograph, there was an amazing blanket of primroses instead.
