14th September 2017

Our last day of shopping and picking up bits and bobs for our grand tour down under.

The day went a little differently than we had planned as 10 minutes after we had entered Boots chemist we were in a little room being impaled with needles! By sheer chance through a conversation with one of the staff I discovered that totally unknown to us Australia and New Zealand have been going through a very bad bout of serious flu that has killed a number of elderly people in homes. We normally have the vaccination in November but not wanting to catch it whilst we are travelling we went for the needle. I've had the vaccination before with little side effects but unfortunately this time it made me feel pretty rough for a few hours... that said, not rough enough to miss out on the free tea and cake voucher from John Lewis.

Colin decided to copy me and get a hoodie as well but went 'hip and down with the kids' and bought one from 'New Look' - possibly not the usual customer profile for the shop.
