After just the one night at Tiboobarra B&B and one of the most impressive cooked breakfasts we've ever had - complete with edible flowers and poached egg and hollandaise, we bid farewell to Bronwen and set off on an interesting route to the airport to drop the car... arriving first in the 'other' Avis drop off which required a fast drive along the freeway to the correct drop off... a self check-in with assistance and a thorough search of my hand luggage because of all the camera kit... we were finally through to catch our flight to Learmonth the RAF airport for Exmouth and Ningaloo reef.
Exmouth - it's sunny... but also very windy and guess what this weather is apparently very unusual for this time of year! Haven't we heard that a few times this trip and on many others after trying so hard to predict the best time to travel. This had a knock on effect in that our much anticipated whale trip on Friday has been cancelled but luckily there were 2-free places on Sunday... that clashes with our manta ray trip so it looks like I've got some reorganising and emailing to do. One great thing - we saw an emu on arrival from the visitor centre car park and a flock of white cockatoos (later identified as Little Corellas - a type of small white cockatoo).
I also managed to buy a replacement pair of small binoculars as the totally useless pair I bought with me have broken - again. It's like having double vision looking through them. There was one pair left and at around £40 in the camping and fishing shop, I thought that was quite reasonable - hope they will do the trick.
Our accommodation is rather more rustic than Bronwen's B&B but the bed is comfy and the shower hot!
